The OG OS self-test: find your lowest layer

The 30 statements from the book. Score what is true now, not what you plan to become. Your lowest component is where you start: failure travels up, and repair starts at the bottom.

  • 30 statements
  • 10 minutes
  • Lowest layer on screen at once

0 Rarely true or currently failing1 Inconsistent, depends on favorable conditions2 True now, and still holds under pressure

0CapacityFoundation

I protect enough sleep to make sound decisions without leaning on stimulants.
My energy is steady enough that important work isn't routinely pushed into drained hours.
Recovery is scheduled before exhaustion forces it.

1ResponsibilityFoundation

Recurring complaints turn into decisions, actions, or explicit acceptance.
I make reversible decisions without waiting for certainty I can't have.
I can name the next move open to me even when conditions are unfair.

2ConsistencyFoundation

The minimum version of my important behaviors survives hard days.
My routines remove repeated decisions so I don't depend on daily willpower.
I keep going after the novelty and visible progress are gone.

3OptionalityLeverage

My fixed commitments leave enough margin to refuse, pause, or change direction.
I keep a financial, professional, and practical way out.
I judge new opportunities on their merit, not on my inability to say no.

4MultiplicationLeverage

Important work can carry on for a meaningful stretch without me doing it directly.
Repeated tasks become written processes, trained capability, automation, or assets.
Most of my time goes where my judgment changes the outcome.

5VisibilityLeverage

People outside my immediate circle can accurately describe the value I create.
I regularly put evidence of my work into forms that can travel without me.
I start the conversation the outcome needs instead of waiting to be noticed.

6TrustLeverage

My closest relationships are two-way, reliable, and able to handle honest conversation.
Expectations and boundaries are spelled out before pressure tests them.
I stay in major relationships and partnerships by choice, not because leaving is impossible.

7AlignmentExecution

What I do again and again supports the identity I claim.
My standards work in the present instead of living only as future goals.
I build private evidence before I make public claims about who I am.

8ObservationControl

I do a written review on a fixed schedule.
I track enough evidence to tell a bad event from a recurring pattern.
At least one person can give me uncomfortable feedback without being punished for it.

9ReasonPurpose

I protect time for something that stays worthwhile without recognition or income.
I can explain why the system runs, beyond achievement, status, and momentum.
My calendar reflects what I'd still call important under a mortality test.
