I do not care which model you use
Models no longer decide who wins. The system around them does. No vendor push, ever.
The idea
In late 2022 and early 2023, model choice mattered a lot. Since then, model quality has converged for most enterprise tasks: summarising, extracting, classifying, first-pass coding. The baseline moved up.
What decides who wins now is orchestration: the control layer that chooses which model fits a task, which tools to call, which data can be used, what happens when confidence is low, and when a human must step in.
AI will not be won by the smartest model. It will be won by the best-orchestrated system.
Why it matters
Using the most expensive model everywhere is like using a Formula 1 car to deliver groceries. Costs blow up first, then reliability. And a strategy that depends on one model is a decision you will regret.
Models improve fast, but systems compound. Every new tool, data source, safeguard and fallback makes the orchestration layer stronger, and your dependency on any single model weaker.
In practice
Stop asking: “Which model should we standardise on?” Start asking:
- How do we stay flexible without losing control?
- How do we keep costs predictable?
- How do we switch vendors without rewriting everything?
- How do we scale without babysitting AI output?
OG and IAC.AI recommend what fits the business, not what someone sells. The winning architecture is model-agnostic, tool-centric, policy-driven, observable and auditable.
From OG’s work
In 25 years of enterprise IT, OG has watched the same pattern repeat through every technology cycle: ERP, cloud, RPA, and now AI. The talk always arrives years before the value.
